How to decouple iPhones

🔹 1. Decouple (Unlink) from Apple ID / iCloud

If you want to remove an iPhone from someone’s Apple ID or sign it out of iCloud, do this:

On the iPhone:

Go to Settings → tap your Apple ID name at the top.

Scroll down and tap Sign Out.

Enter your Apple ID password to confirm.

Choose what data to keep on the iPhone (like Contacts, Keychain, etc.).

Tap Sign Out again to finish.

From another device or browser:

🔹 2. Decouple from another device (Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, etc.)

To unlink paired Apple devices:

On iPhone: Settings → Bluetooth → tap the (i) next to the device → Forget This Device.

For Apple Watch: Use the Watch app → All Watches → (i) → Unpair Apple Watch.

🔹 3. Decouple from carrier (unlock network SIM lock)

If the iPhone is locked to a carrier (e.g., AT&T, MTN, Verizon, etc.):

Contact your carrier and request a SIM unlock.

After they approve, insert a SIM from another carrier or connect to Wi-Fi.

The iPhone will automatically update and unlock itself.

(Apple does not unlock phones directly; only carriers can.)

🔹 4. Decouple from iTunes / Finder

If your iPhone automatically syncs with a Mac or PC:

Open iTunes (or Finder on macOS Catalina or later).

Go to Preferences → Devices.

Right-click the iPhone and choose Forget This Device.
